Environmental and Social Action Resources for Bodhiheart Students
These links are intentionally few, choosen to bring attention to just a couple of the many excellent opportunites out there to help change the world. Our focus is on identifying practical, immediate actions we can each take to simplify our personal environmental impact and to practice world-embracing generosity.
This is the practice of a bodhisattva.
We find these links particularly inspiring. Now and then we'll change or add to them. Ven. Dhammadinna and Tenzin Jesse are old friends of both the Karuna Center and Purkal.

Living Green
Meaningful for Others
- Karuna Center for Peace Building
* Teaches non-violent communication and peace building in troubled communities throughout the world, such as Nepal, Sri Lanka, India, and Rwanda. Director, Paula Green, will receive the "Unsung Hero of Compassion" award from His Holiness the Dalai Lama in April 2009.
- Purkal Youth
* A small education and development program that offers food, care and tutoring to extraordinarily poor Indian village children, enabling them to escape a life of crushing poverty. Ven. Dhammadinna and Tenzin Jesse have filmed, written and produced a 20 minute movie in India on the Purkal Project and the difference a single individual can make in his or her community. Ask them to see it!
- Kiva

For as long as space remains,
And for as long as living beings endure,
May I too remain
To ease the sufferings of the world.
